Moorbath Farmhouse Cottage Bridport - Excellence in the beautiful Marshwood Vale of West Dorset
Moorbath is set in the beautiful Marshwood Vale, three miles from the sea, in country that has remained as unspoilt as any in England. It is part of The Symondsbury Estate which has been in the same ownership for over seven generations. A stone over the front door is dated 1689 when the original farmhouse must have undergone a major refit.
The house contains two double bedrooms, four twin bedded rooms, one with en suite bathroom, plus 2 further bathrooms, all with tiles by Bronwyn Williams Ellis, and a single bedroom with separate shower and loo, on the ground floor. There are two cots available for babies. Also on the ground floor is a modern version of a farmhouse kitchen, with dresser and long kitchen table for informal meals, adjacent to a large dining room. There is a choice of two tastefully furnished, yet spacious and comfortable sitting rooms with wood burning stoves for cozy evenings in.
Indoor heated Swimming pool, table tennis and skittle alley are situated in the converted barn complex, with plenty of spacious seating areas to just sit and relax.

There are two sitting rooms with separate T.V. and
video equipment. The furnishings are simple, traditional and not Chelsea!
The wide open old farmyard provides a secure place for children and also space for them to kick a ball.
At all times of day there is a place to sit and enjoy the sun and at the right time of year the roses are a joy. The small original farmhouse garden is in front of the house and we are slowly developing it so that there is interest in all seasons.
:: The Estate:
The Symondsbury estate is a beautiful, traditional and undeveloped estate, comprising 25% Grade One Farmland. With yellow hamstone and thatched cottages and farmyards, it is set in gently hilly countryside near the world famous fossil bearing Jurrassic Coastline in West Dorset.
First written records of the Colfox family connection with the estate occured in 1280 when William Colfox witnessed a lease of the Symondsbury Deer Park, which still forms the core of the estate.
What we have to offer is reasonable peace and quiet, fine scenery, things to do on wet days such as a heated swimming pool, skittle alley, and ping pong room, all situated in the old farm buildings.
