    Ryedale - The Ideal Location for Relaxation
    The rural district of Ryedale in the heart of North Yorkshire covers 600 square miles of dramatic scenery, with picturesque villages, wild purple moorlands, grassy dales, fertile valleys, soft rounded wolds and quaint market towns.

    Using The Huntsman as your base you can drive within the hour to savour the delights of the old fishing port of Whitby, the fine sands of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough, the high cliffs at Flamborough and the Old World fishing villages of Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes.
    Historic Houses in the area include the magnificent Castle Howard (TV's Brideshead Revisited) Sledmere, Duncombe Park, Newburgh Priory and Nunnungton Hall.

    Then there are the splendid ruined abbeys of Rievaulx, Old Byland or travel to the secluded valley where Kirkham Priory stands peacefully by the river Derwent, alternatively see the impressive fortifications at Helmsley Castle and the 12th Century Motte and Bailey Castle at Pickering.
