The Hollies B&B guesthouse is situated in the centre of Threlkeld Village, nr Keswick in the English Lake District National Park.
Built of local stone, and dating back to 1900, this imposing property enjoys an elevated position, with magnificent views of the surrounding fells. This splendid property has been carefully refurbished by husband and wife team, John and Margaret Fleet, who have been in the hotel and catering business for over 30 years.
There is ample off-road parking, as well as facilities for both walkers and cyclists (including a drying room).
The AA 4 star rated accommodation at The Hollies, comprises four twin/double rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. The rooms have full central heating, and come with tea/coffee making facilities plus remote control colour television.
Gardens to the front and rear of the house frequented by a wide variety of birds and occasional red squirrels, provide a tranquil setting for a relaxing stay.
The room rates shown below also include a superb Cumbrian breakfast, with only the best local produce, home made bread and preserves being served in our breakfast room.
The two rooms at the front of the house enjoy views of the Helvellyn range and St Johns in the Vale, whilst the two to the rear look to the summit of Blencathra. Some of our rooms are non-smoking. Pets are welcome by prior arrangement, in some of the rooms. Please bring food and a blanket or bed for the animal to sleep on.
A quarter of an hours driving will take you to 3 lakes; Derwentwater, Ullswater and Bassenthwaite Lake. Threlkeld village is a wonderful place to be based if you wish to explore the Northern Lake District. This former mining village has great character, and is situated at the foot of Blencathra, 5 miles east of Keswick and north of St Johns in the Vale.
The village is located just off the A66 between Keswick & Penrith (for details see the find us page) and has a small post office and two public houses. One of these, the Horse and Farrier, serving local Jennings beers, has an AA rosette for its food, while the Salutation Inn is a typical Lakeland Inn serving traditional pub meals.
Local activities are plentiful, whatever type of recreation you enjoy. You can forget the car once you are here as the local walking is superb and not to be missed.
If you enjoy boating or lake fishing both Ullswater and Derwentwater are close by.
For golfers we are just a stones throw away from the challenging and picturesque Keswick Golf Club course, and an easy drive to the area's other best known clubs. If you would like us to organise a superb Cumbrian golfing break, just get in touch. Discounted green fees at Keswick can be arranged - 'Two for one' tickets which can be used by our residents.
For cyclists riding the well known Coast to Coast (C2C) route from Workington to Sunderland, The Hollies is a perfect place to stop, just off the main route.
