Kilcamb Cottages Strontian - Introduction to Kilcamb Highland Holiday Cottages
Kilcamb Cottages are among the most picturesque self-catering highland holiday cottages in Scotland.
These 3 lovely Highland holiday cottages are real 'homes from home'. Set in 8 acres of landscaped and woodland grounds where red deer, roe deer, pine martens and a huge variety of birds are frequent visitors, they enjoy wonderful views south over Loch Sunart to the hills of Morvern.
Adjacent to the highland holiday cottages, this holiday home was built in 1994 to a modern yet traditional design. It is a beautiful house, with elegant furnishings and very tastefully decorated. The house faces south-east toward Loch Sunart, overlooking the private slipway, with views to the hills beyond.
On the ground floor, there is a large, comfortably furnished living room with gas ‘coal effect’ fire, TV/video, CD player, books and games. The stylish, well-equipped kitchen/dining room has a dishwasher, AGA, microwave, fridge, freezer, central island and wooden floor. There is a further utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, and a cloakroom/WC.
There is a large en-suite double bedroom on the ground floor which, being capable of entry direct from a ramp, is suitable for disabled use. Patio doors open onto the front garden area. It is tastefully furnished and the large bathroom is fully equipped with grab rails, a large wheelchair accessible shower compartment with seat and a jacuzzi bath. There is also a television.
The first floor has one double bedroom and two twin bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities. All are tastefully furnished and one of the twins is equipped with a television.
Heating in all rooms is by electric heaters. Crockery and cooking utensils, and bed linen, towels and hairdryers are provided. There is a card-activated telephone in the house with computer socket for email or internet access.
:: Erraid and Hermitray
These delightful Highland holiday cottages were built about 10 years ago and many of the guests are obviously so impressed that they return year after year. Both are southeast facing towards Loch Sunart and the private slipway, with large picture windows from the sitting room to take maximum advantage of the sun and ever changing views.
These Highland holiday cottages are identical in design and layout, one being a mirror image of the other. The accommodation is both bright and homely and comprises an entry porch from the landscaped grounds to the comfortable sitting room, the adjacent well-equipped kitchen and dining area with its modern units and appliances, a twin bedded room with en-suite shower-room and a double bedroom and a bathroom.
In addition to accommodating 4 guests in 2 bedrooms, Hermitray also benefits from a double sofa bed in the lounge for a further 2, and a foldaway cot/guest bed are available by arrangement. The grounds include a private slipway which can be used by arrangement, and guests at the highland holiday cottages may borrow an inflatable dingy or Canadian canoe. They may even join us on the fishing boat to catch prawns or squat lobsters in the loch.
The Highland holiday cottages are situated on the edge of the charming highland village of Strontian with its hotels, pub, shops, post office, tourist office and lovely woodland walks. For those who enjoy eating out there is a choice of local bistros and restaurants in the village and surrounding area.
