Anson House Cottage Malton - For racing fans there are 10 racecourses within the hour as well as mares and foals in your own front garden.
ANSON HOUSE is a luxurious, newly built self-catering cottage on the outskirts of Malton (only 1 mile from both the railway and bus stations) yet completely surrounded by fields. It is situated on a horse racing yard/thoroughbred stud and has been finished to a very high standard with the 27 hole golf course 150 yards (about a 7 iron) away. There is always something in a name and Anson House is named after Avro Anson - bred, raised and raced from Star Cottage. Avro completed two Grand Nationals, finished first in the Stayers Hurdles at Cheltenham and won a multitude of flat, hurdle and chase races for us and is still here in honorable retirement.
ACCOMMODATION - the cottage is double glazed throughout and open all year with full oil-fired central heating and a log burning fire. There are two spacious en-suite bedrooms both with a choice of either twin or double beds. Bedroom 1 has bath/shower/toilet and bedroom 2 a shower/toilet. There are two sofa beds in the lounge with its own shower/toilet facilities on the ground floor - so it can sleep six comfortably. It has a fully fitted kitchen/dining room with dishwasher, auto washer/dryer, microwave, electric oven, hob, fridge/freezer and ironing facilities. Satellite TV. is provided in all bedrooms/lounge complete with radio, VCR and DVD. All bed linen (duvets), towels and tea towels are provided. Both bedrooms look onto the paddocks occupied by mares and foals. This stud has bred more than 200 winners including some top class ones - can you spot another? Ample private parking and drying facilities are provided but regrettably NO SMOKING or PETS.
MALTON, only a mile away, is a vibrant market town, the coast at Scarborough/Filey 20 miles east, York 15 miles to the west complete with Minster, Viking and Railway Museums. For the walkers amongst you to the North are the superb views and walks of the North Yorks Moors and Dalby Forest. For the more daring the theme parks of Flamingoland and Lightwater Valley are 20 mins and an hour away respectively. Other local attractions include the Second World War Museum at Eden Camp, the Steam Railway at Pickering, Castle Howard and numerous medieval castle and abbey ruins. For the golfer, not only is there a 27 hole course complete with driving range on the doorstep but the championship courses of Ganton, Fulford and Strensall are all within a 30 min. drive.
