April Cottage Nr Swanage - comfortable accommodation on three floors for up to eight people
April Cottage is a lovely renovated period cottage set in the popular Purbeck village of Langton Matravers. It is built of Purbeck stone under a stone slate roof and dates from the late eighteenth century. Much of the surrounding area is owned by the National Trust and is designated as being of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The coastal cliffs and foreshore (known as the Jurassic coast), between Studland in Dorset and Exmouth in East Devon, have been awarded World Heritage Site status.
It offers comfortable accommodation on three floors for up to eight people, comprising of a living room, kitchen, bathroom, three bedrooms, garden and courtyard. We would prefer you not to smoke in the Cottage. We cannot accommodate pets in the cottage.The cottage is one of a terrace of three, situated at right angles to the road where there is easy parking for one or two cars, and has full gas central heating and double glazing.
The lounge has a 3 seater sofa and 2 charis a Wood Burning Stove, coffee table and a drop leaf dining table that will seat upto 8 people. There is a TV with video/DVD player and a hifi with cd player. The centre piece of the room is an original stone fireplace with working wood burning stove. The downstairs bathroom and kitchen lead from the lounge. The book shelf is full of useful information such as maps, brouchures of local places to visit.
The well equiped hand made traditional style kitchen has a fridge freezer, washing machine, microwave, kettle and dual fuel stove. All plates, cups,cuttlery and cooking equipment are supplied. There is a pine breakfast table and chairs with extra fold down chairs in the cupboard under the stairs.
There is an enclosed garden with a bench over looking the front of the cottage. Next to the cottage there is small court yard with a table and chairs for outside dining and a conservatory with seating to enjoy the sunshine.
The garden has a shed which contains a BBQ (please supply charcoal and clean ready for the next use) and logs for the wood burning stove. More logs can be obtained for Norton Farm Shop between Corfe and Wareham.
The village of Langton Matravers is two or three miles inland from Swanage and is set high up in the Purbeck Hills. It is possible to walk to the cliffs at Dancing Ledge (a popular beauty spot) using footpaths from the village, a distance of about a mile and a half. The village itself offers a very well stocked Post Office/general store and two pubs that provide food. There is also another public house offering food at Kingston about two miles away, whilst Worth Matravers, Langton's sister village, is only one mile away across footpaths and has similar facilities. The famous village of Corfe Castle is only four and a half miles away.
Bournemouth and Poole are within easy reach via the Sandbanks/Studland Ferry or by road via Wareham (a small market town). Other tourist destinations such as Monkey World, Bovington Tank Museum, The New Forest, Lulworth Cove, Dorchester and Weymouth are all within easy driving distance.

Through the winter (28th Oct - 25th March) are available @ 165 - 300 per 3 or 4 nights
Short breaks outside the winter period are charged at 2/3 the weekly rate, subject to availability.
