A welcoming atmosphere prevails at this totally non smoking Victorian townhouse. Amble House is quietly situated and only a few minutes walk from the centre of town and a 10 minute stroll will take you to the shores of our magical Lake Derwentwater, the 'Queen of the Lakes' and the Theatre by the Lake. Richard and Judy run a small family business that puts their guests first. Our hard work has been recognised by Visit Britain who have accredited us with a 4* classification and awarded us a Silver Award for Excellence; likewise the AA have accredited us with a 4* classification and we have been nominated three times both by guests and the AA Inspectors for their Landlady of the Year Award and have reached the final four twice!!
Hearty traditional English and Vegetarian breakfasts are served at individual tables in our light and airy dining room. We happily cater for special diets with prior arrangement. We have a Healthy Environment Award from the local authority for being a totally non smoking house and for providing foods which are freshly prepared. Packed lunches are also available and are freshly prepared each day.
We offer a range of different sized en-suite rooms, with showers, toilets and wash handbasins. All our rooms are tastefully decorated with cleanliness and comfort a
priority. They are toughtfully equipped with individual thermostatically controlled central heating, remote controlled colour televisions with a tv magazine so you can plan your viewing! hairdryers and hospitality trays. We provide make-up removal pads, guest facecloths and soaps and a small razor should you forget your own! Large soft bath towels and smaller hand towels are provided for your use. A dish of sweets and some delicious biscuits to enjoy with your tea, coffee or hot choclate.

If your desire is to absorb the spectacular, breathtaking scenery which surrounds this small, busy market town on foot there are innumerable walks starting right outside our front door! You need never use your car!
We provide a drying area for wet outer clothing and footwear.
Should you prefer to be a little faster on your feet then mountain bikes and cycles are available for hire right here in town. We offer secure cycle storage if you wish to bring your own bike!
We have numerous guide books and maps for you to borrow and will gladly help you plan your day. For the less adventurous amongst you and for those who like a relaxing break from the toils of life there is always a cruise on one of the launches that circumnavigate the lake. You can also feed the ducks!
The traditional market town of Keswick has something to interest everyone - Castlerigg Stone Circle, a Museum and Art Gallery, Theatre and Cinema, Pencil Mill Museum, beautiful parks and a wide variety of shops.
Keswick is renowed as a centre for outdoor pursuits simply ask any walking or climbing enthusiast.
The district abounds with nature trails, town and country walks, forest tracks or go rambling on the fells. Keswick is also perfectly placed to visit Carlisle and the Border Country with Hadrian's Wall.
