  • Bagnell Cottage B&B Norton-Sub-Hamdom - Our aim is to make your visit a happy and memorable experience.
    Bagnell Cottage is a Bed and Breakfast with a special difference - it is surrounded on all sides by the beautiful Somerset countryside. This really is the place to get away from it all, pamper yourself with peace and quiet, and fill your lungs with fresh clear country air.

    Set in a secluded and unspoilt valley at the confluence of two streams - one of which feeds a large pond and a waterfall, Bagnell Cottage can be found in the middle of its two acres at the end of a scenic track.

    Although the property can be reached in just 10 minutes from the A303 there is abundant wildlife in the vicinity, including active badger sets and many water birds, and the views are an artist's dream. Guests have full access to gardens, picnic areas, ponds and a large meadow or they can choose to follow one of the three footpaths that pass the cottage. If and when our visitors desire a return to civilisation there is a well appointed pub which offers good food, a local shop and a good bus service near by.

    But the location is only one part of what makes Bagnell Cottage Bed and Breakfast so special! Beautiful, warm, comfortable and spacious accommodation is available within a traditional large cottage which, thanks to its recent renovation, perfectly blends the charm of the old with the comfort of the new.

    The Cottage provides warm, comfortable and spacious accommodation with a large lounge complete with a wide screen television, log burner, and extensive library for the use of guests. Internet access is available.

    We offer en suite rooms with a twin or double bed and each bedroom has a view of beautiful natural surroundings. All bedrooms are supplied with colour television, clock radio, hair driers and tea/coffee making equipment.

    :: Activities

    For Nature Lovers - Whatever time of year you visit there is a wide variety of flora and fauna on our front door. There is plentiful bird activity down by the pond and an active badger set close by.

    For Walkers - Whether you fancy a gentle amble or an energetic hike there are three footpaths to choose from which lead from the Cottage to Ham Hill Country Park, historic Montacute House and the Chinnocks. They also link with the Leland Trail as well as the Monarch’s Way, Liberty, and River Parrett Trails. Just think how lovely it will feel to return to Bagnell Cottage after your exertions for a sit down and a lovely cup of tea!

    For fossil hunters and those who do like to be beside the seaside - The World Heritage Jurassic Coast is just 45 minutes away and includes the charming resorts of Lyme Regis and Weymouth.

    For those who want to take it really easy - Get up for breakfast, settle yourself down by the pond or on the patio with a good book or the paper and listen to the noises of nature all about you, only looking up occasionally to find out what that rustling is! Later have a snooze before heading not very far away to find something delicious to eat.

    For sporting types - Golf and fishing facilities are within a short distance of the property. Hot air balloon trips are also available locally.

    For connoisseurs of good food and drink - Sample local produce at one of the many excellent pubs and restaurants a short drive away. Where better to try some real Somerset cider than at a Cider Museum or at one of several local farm shops? Your visit might even coincide with a local Farmers Market.

    For culture vultures - There are many famous and beautiful gardens to visit together with National Trust properties. There are two lovely second-hand bookshops and an antiques market area at nearby Crewkerne. There are cinemas in Lyme Regis and Yeovil and for theatre you could visit Taunton, Yeovil or Lyme Regis - all close by.

    Other places of interest - Other places of interest include the reputed site of Camelot at South Cadbury and the famed Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton as well as the Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford.

    :: Tariff

    Tariff is between £25 and £35 per person per night and a single supplement may apply. We offer reduced rates for stays of five or more nights.

    The tariff includes a full farmhouse style breakfast. Local produce is used where possible. We are a member of the ‘Levels Best’ organisation which is run by Somerset Food Links. Special diets are catered for by arrangement.

    There is ample and safe parking.

    Bagnell Cottage is completely non-smoking.

    Our aim is to make your visit a happy and memorable experience.
