A Stunning Victorian Hotel with modern amenities sitting in its own spectacular grounds of 100 acres plus with around a mile of the Lochshore/Waterfront. The Resort boasts a fabulas dinning experience in the Crachan Room plus 29 super bedrooms & Suites plus 31 Apartments and lodges in the grounds with absolutely breath taking views of the Loch and the surrounding countryside.
Offering both hotel and self catering accommodation in an idyllic location, Portsonachan is an excellent resort from which to explore the surrounding countryside and its many attractions. Situated on the banks of the beautiful Loch Awe Portsonachan is a 1.5 hour drive from Glasgow, a 2.5 hour drive from Edinburgh and a 1 hour drive from Oban, 'Gateway to the Isles'.
Whether you want to fish, play golf, take a sail on the loch, walk or simply relax and read a book, there is plenty for you to experience.
The Resort has Boats for hire Mountain Bikes Windsurfer's and free fishing on the Loch if you are resident
Portsonachan is steeped in history and the Clan Campbell stronghold of Kilchurn Castle stands at the north eastern end of Loch Awe. The location of the hotel offers glorious views of the loch and the mighty Ben Cruachan.
When you want to relax, read a book or just enjoy a quiet drink, the conservatory offers a truly spectacular view of the east side and northern end of the loch. From the conservatory you can see Ben Cruchan, also called the Hollow Mountain, due to the hydro electric dam. The dam is located halfway up the mountain and we recommend that guests take a closer look at this marvel of engineering.
The Hotel has nineteen en-suite bedrooms in total (each with wireless internet access), as well as 10 Lochside Suites, with a mixture of family, double and twin rooms available. There are five superior rooms that directly overlook the beautiful Loch Awe.
Guests of the hotel, Lochside Lodges and the Coach House may also take advantage of our 24 hour room service for light meals and sandwiches, charged at ?12.50 per service visit.
Rates start from ?66 per night for a Standard Room, ?86 for a Superior Loch View Room and ?96 for a Lochside Suite all inclusive of a full Scottish Breakfast for two adults served in the Lochside conservatory.
If you need any extra beds for children placed in the room, tell us in advance and our staff will be happy to make the arrangements.
Our guest lounge is a comfortable and cosy area where you can browse through our library, sit and play board games or just relax in front of the fire. To the right is the entrance way to our hotel. The patio area, just outside the door can also be accessed from the conservatory.
Enjoy modern Scottish cuisine in our Cruachan restaurant or a tasty bar meal from the Captain's Bar.
We have a variety of very comfortable and individual holiday homes set in our estate grounds of around 100 acres and they range from individual 3 bedroom lodges which sleep 7/8 to cosy studio apartments which sleep 2. All our lodges and apartments are double glazed and fully heated so be it summer or winter, you will always be comfortable and warm in the pleasing ambiance of their relaxing soft decor.
Dogs are permitted but attract a small charge of ?2.50 per day whilst staying at the estate and are welcome in public areas except when food is being served.
All lodges and apartments are non smoking.
Welcome packs are available on request and can be tailored to your needs but the standard pack consists of milk, bread, butter/Flora, tea bags, bacon, eggs, coffee, orange juice, jams & honey, cornflakes, tomatoes, mushrooms, cooking oil, salt & pepper, vinegar.
Cancellation Policy Bookings are accepted on a 25% deposit basis with full payment to be completed latest 30 days prior to arrival. Cancellation policy is such that arrival dates can be varied up to 60 days before booked arrival date without penalty, but a ?10.00 administration charge will be levied. Cancellation between 60 and 28 days before booked arrival date will mean forfeiture of the deposit. Cancellation between 28 days and the booked arrival date will mean forfeiture of the total payment, unless the unit can be re-let to a third party, then 85% of the new letting price will be refunded.
It is also recommended that if you wish to use the estate's boats or bikes that you book when making your reservation to avoid disappointment.
