  • Birch Cottage - Birch Cottage Bed, Breakfast and Evening meals
Birch Cottage is a traditional Highland Cottage refurbished to a high standard (STB 3 Star). It is a great base for touring the Highlands of Scotland with both the very beautiful east and west coasts just a short drive away. Skye is just 1 1/2 hours away. For the more energetic there are many Munros on our doorstep - Ben Wyvis, Torridon, Glen Affric and he Ullapool Hills to name but a few. Garve is on the 'Kyle line'- a very scenic train journey to the Kyle of Lochalsh. Applecross, Plockton, the Falls of Shin, Ullapool and the Summer Isles all make for great days out with breath-taking scenery. Inverness, and the famous Loch Ness are just a short drive away, with several distilleries en-route. Culloden is well worth a visit.

There are castles, gardens, waterfalls, and many circular excursions to visit before returning to Birch Cottage for a memorable evening meal freshly prepared by Ray (with more than 30 years experience as a chef). There is the breathtakingly beautiful Knockan Crag, which has a very good visitor centre explaining the geology and how we was once joined to America!!! Cape Wrath and Smoo Cave will enthrall the keen photographers, as will the many deer and 'big birds' seen en-route!! And of course, no visit is complete without a visit to John O'Groats.

Birch Cottages' speciality, however, is the hospitality of Ray and Linda, and the quality of the meals served in the intimate, candle-lit dining room.

What makes Birch Cottage special, however, is the quality of the food – it is truly outstanding, as many of the comments in the visitor book will confirm.

The breakfast menu offers both full English and Continental. Evening meals are served in the intimate candle-lit dining room using locally sourced ingredients for freshness and quality.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own beer or wine, as we are un-licensed (no corkage charged).
