Ilfracombe is situated in one of the most scenic, and warmest, parts of the UK. With its splendid new Landmark Theatre, an indoor swimming pool, discos, shops, cafes and historic maritime pubs, and the bustling harbour has a continental atmosphere as fishing vessels jostle for space alongside the bobbing yachts.
With so much more to do, it is not surprising that so many people return to Ilfracombe year after year.
Visitors have the best of both worlds with the sea on our doorstep and beautiful Exmoor National Park nearby. There are trips by coach or boat and easy drives to many places of interest on the coast and inland, including beautiful gardens and parks, stately homes, markets, historic museums and local potteries.
The North Devon Coast path stretches from Hartland in the West of the county, to Lynmouth in the East and a variety of countryside, from the mighty Hogback cliffs of Great Hangman, to the expanse of golden sands and wild surf at Woolacombe, to the calmer waters of the estuary of the Taw and Torridge rivers. For the more energetic there is a wide choice from the arduous SW Coast Path, tranquillity in Tarka Country and Exmoor and unique Lundy Island - wherever you go the scenery is amazing, the walking just great.
Ilfracombe is the centre for some of the finest walking in the English countryside. Whether you enjoy a gentle promenade walk around Capstone Hill, the rugged coastal path or the river valleys and tranquillity of Exmoor National Park moorlands you will find the scenery spectacular. Words somehow cannot fully capture this natural beauty, this 'great British outdoors'.
There are numerous walks in the Exmoor National Park. On its moorland and heather hills you will find sheep and ponies with buzzards flying overhead. Along its coastal edge, the views are from another world. Glance across the water to South Wales and on a clear day you will see its valleys & mountains, it's a perfect backdrop to your picture. Exmoor will provide you a memorable day out and a story or two to take home with you.
Two Ways Guest House is just 100 yards from the delightful Bicclescombe Park and Cairn Nature Reserve, ideal for exercising the hound or simply for a stretch of the legs. There is also tennis, golf, riding, shooting, fishing and bowls nearby.
Then of course there are the magnificent sandy beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton, which offer swimming and surfing second to none.
Please come and see for your selves, you’ll be very welcome at Two Ways. thank you - John & Sue.
