In a stunning location, with open, panoramic views across the sea to the islands of Eigg, Rum and the Cuillin mountains on nearby Skye, Ach na skia Croft at Arisaig on the West Highland coast north-west of Fort William, is the perfect place to escape the hurly burly.

In cottage or cedar lodge you’ll find everything you need for a relaxing break. After a day out on the sea or loch, walking in the hills or playing golf on the nearby 9 hole course at Traigh you can return to Achnaskia for a relaxing sauna or a game of pool or table tennis. It’s a short walk to the beach and there’s a volleyball net and swings and a slide for smaller children.

Washed by the Gulf Stream the area is mild and verdant, with rich and varied wildlife. On your visit you may see pine marten, otter, minke whale, basking shark, dolphin, shearwaters, heron, geese, oystercatchers, wild orchids in profusion. There are more sandy beaches here than anywhere in Scotland, with hidden bays all to yourself. The waters around Arisaig Bay are sheltered and offer excellent kayaking. Kayaks and canoes are available for hire. Free Wi-Fi.

Arisaig Village has a Post Office, general store, harbour with day trips to the Small Isles, hotel, restaurant, visitor centre, gift shop and railway station - with a steam train running in summer. The fishing village of Mallaig, with ferries to Skye, is 7 miles away.

The only danger is that once you arrive you won’t want to leave!
