  • Craig Highland Farm Plockton - Lochside Cottage
This stone built partly thatched lochside cottage is perfectly situated for a quiet relaxing break in the highlands. Wildlife is abundant with seals in the loch, otters on the island and pine martens, waterfowl and birds to watch.

The farm has domestic animals (pigs, goats, sheep, donkeys, ponies, rabbits, peafowl and highland cattle) to feed as well as llamas wandering on the shore. The Scottish Wildlife Trust island can be visted at low tides via the coral strand beside the grassy picnic area.

The cottage is also a central location for trips to Applecross (over the highest paved road in Britain), Glenelg and, of course, the Isle of Skye which is a 10 minute drive away. You can dive in the clear waters, wander in the woods or take Calum's Seal trip from Plockton 2 miles away where you will also find excellent food in the restraunt and pubs. Inverness airport is an hour and a half away and the train stops at nearbye Duncraig station.

Traditional music can be enjoyed in the local pubs and we have many fine craft, art and souvenier shops to visit. Eileen Donan Castle is close by and the mountains have many hours of walking, rambling and climbing to tempt the enthusiast. Offering weekly lets in high season you can also book by the night when available and take advantage of special short breaks in the low season. Suitable for families and couples alike there is a cottage or lodge just waiting for you!

The farm is a 17 acre holding set aside for the preservation of Rare Breeds of domestic animals and fowl. You will see ancient and rare breeds of Scottish sheep traditional species of poultry and water fowl, rabbits, outdoor pigs and piglets, llama and goats, geese, ducks and baby chicks. Enjoy feeding and getting closer than you ever dreamed to these magical animals.

However, it's not all about animals. Many people come just to relax and get away from the "Hussle and Bussle" of life at home. Enjoy the finest Highland scenery, look for pine martens, otters and seals on our private beach, or gaze at rhododendron covered crags. At low tide admire the Coral Strand, perhaps walk across to the Heron Sanctuary, or just relax between mountain, meadow and loch.
