We are 4 diamond rated by the English Tourist Board, and recommended by the ''Which'' Best B&B Guide, and Rick Steves Great Britain Guide.

Our eight bedrooms are airy and nicely furnished in pine. All are en-suite and have central heating, tea and coffee making facilities. colour T.V., clock radio and hair dryer. Ironing facilities are also available.

We have a comfortable guests lounge with a fine original marble fire place, leading to the dining room where a good choice of breakfast is served each morning. We do not serve an evening dinner, but within 2 minutes walk there are good places to eat and of course within 5 minutes you are in the centre where you can eat food from around the world.

We guarantee car parking, so once you are here you can forget about your car and enjoy an easy stroll into the city. there are three different routes...

Along the main road at the top of our terrace, called Bootham, a collection of mainly Georgian and early Victorian large town houses, once described by historian Pevsner as possibly the finest street in York.
Along Marygate lane about 200 yards and into Marygate - opposite you is St.Olaves church and next to that are the impressive gas lit wrought iron gates leading you into the Yorkshire Museum Gardens, where 2 or 3 different routes will take you through and leave you in the city centre.
Turn right and walk down the continuation of our terrace, where some steps lead down to a paved and light riverside walk where you will pass visiting rivercraft; also boat trips go from along here. 200 yards along here will bring you to the handsome cast iron arched Lendal bridge. Steps lead up to street level and the city centre.
