Mal Dingle welcomes guests to Rosebank House which was built in the 1800s as a small hotel and retains many original features. For the enjoyment of guests, there is an attractive garden in a stunning setting and a comfortable lounge with coffee and tea-making facilities. The lounge has a pleasant outlook over the Balvaig river to Ben Shean. There is also a conservatory in which to enjoy views of the garden.

Strathyre and the surrounding area are rich in bird and wildlife, supported by a mixed flora of plants. Tracts of native woodland mingle with the commercially planted forestry making spring and autumn very colorful seasons.

Following the valley bottom is the course of the old railway, closed in 1965, it now forms part of Route 7 Cycle way which leads all the way to Fort William. The Rob Roy Way also follows the Cycle way in places.

From Rosebank we have watched herons, a variety of tits and many other birds. A red squirrel is also an occasional visitor to the garden and has been known to feed from the bird table.

    Pets are welcome at Rosebank.

The back gate leads from the garden to a tennis court and picnic area from which it is possible to explore the burns and glades and perhaps walk a little further on to the Kingshouse Hotel at Balquidder. There is an abundance of good walking in the area ranging from gentle strolls along the cycle path and forestry tracks through to ascents of the sixteen nearby Munros and many Corbetts, Grahams and Donalds. The ascent of Ben Shean is a short but fairly strenuous walk which is rewarded by excellent panoramic views. Winter walking offers its own special delights with magnificent vistas of snow-capped peaks to be feasted upon!

For easier access to some of the one-way walks we can transport you to or pick you up from your route if required.

Kayaking hire and instruction is available in the village also cycle hire.

All bedrooms are fully equipped with television, coffee and tea-making facilities and enjoy excellent views of the garden and surrounding countryside.

Strathyre is a pleasant village in attractive countryside and is also a convenient base to explore the surrounding area with the Trossachs, Loch Lomond, Glencoe, the Arrochar Alps and Stirling all within easy reach by car. The more adventurous may choose to drive to Oban and catch a ferry to one of the islands.
