  • Clochard B&B Galway City -
Clochard is a family Bed and Breakfast at Spires Gardens, Galway. Spires Gardens was originally part of the O'Hara of Lenaboy estate. The house is part of a small development which is surrounded by a high wall and defence tower. The wall and tower dates back to the early 19th Century and would have been requisitioned by Lieutenant Colonel O Hara. The tradesmen were paid one penny per day.

Clochard B&B is only a short distance from Galway's Ceannt Railway station and Kennedy Park, which is named after the late John F. Kennedy former US President. Galway's World famous Salmon Weir fishery, Cathedral and University are only a few minutes walk . Spires Gardens is also serviced by a regular bus service. Fishing, Golf, Horse riding are available locally. Information on walks and mountain walking is also available.

Pat and Helena originally came from Donegal and "Gaeilge" the native Irish language is spoken. Helena has worked all her life in the catering profession. If you so wish Pat and Helena can plan your daily itinerary. We can organise daily bus tours of Connemara and the Burren.

The tour of Connemara takes in Kylemore Abbey, the Inagh Valley, the market town of Clifden etc.

The Burren tour meanders its way through one of the World's most fascinating landscapes and takes in the famous Cliffs of Moher . At the cliffs of Moher you can view the Atlantic Ocean, The Aran Islands and the cliffs themselves which rise about 200 meters above the Atlantic Ocean. Clochard is also an ideal base for other tours such as Ashford Castle and the village of Cong. The Village of Cong was made famous by the John Ford classic film "The Quiet Man".

Tour operators collect passengers at our house after breakfast each morning. Clochard are appointed agents for Aran Ferries and ferry trips can be booked from our premises. There are also two boat cruises of Lough Corrib that we can recommend. The Corrib Cruise which goes to Cong and the Corrib Princess which cruises the River Corrib and Lough Corrib.
