  • Cartrefle Holiday Cottage The Wern - Walkiing, sightseeing
Converted from an outbuilding the cottage is next door to our own cottage in a lovely rural location with views of Clwydian Hills (an area of outstanding natural beauty). There is a bathroom, bedroom with twin beds, lounge/dining/kitchen area, asnd large garden. We are surrounded by common land and for walking you only need to go out the gate and off you go!! Pets are welcome and this is a lovely area for walking. Welcome try on arrival - fresh baked scones and a bottle of wine!!

    Cottage situated in Flintshire

    the north-east corner of Wales

Cartrefle is situated in a very rural position at about a height of 1000ft above sea level surrounded by open grazing land and with uninterrupted views of the Clwydian mountains. This is a very good base for walking, both in the immediate locality and on the Clwydian range. The area is scheduled as a site of scientific interest due to rare flora and fauna which can be found here.

The nearest towns are Mold, a bustling little market town with good shops, restaurants and an excellent theatre, and Holywell which is one of the pilgrimage sites in Wales - the site of Winefride's well is situated here. Both towns are four miles from the cottage.

Other areas and attractions within easy reach are:

The North Wales coastal resorts of Rhyl, Prestatyn, Colwyn Bay and Llandudno - all within 40 minutes travelling time.

Medieval Chester with its wonderful half timbered buildings, variety of shops, cathedral and race course.

Snowdonia with its mountains and national park is a comfortable one and a half hour drive from here.

Liverpool can be reached in one hour and has some wonderful attractions - two cathedrals, the Beatles Museum and a theatre - or why not treat yourself to a trip on the Mersey ferry?
