    Things to do:

We will happily advise you on places of interest and beauty in the area as well as recommending local restaurants. We take pleasure in helping guests discover the best places to visit, many of which are only known locally. Whatever your interests there is something for you close by as you drive down leafy lanes to sleepy villages with thatched and timbered houses, ancient churches and rural pubs in an atmosphere from a by-gone age.

Local Towns: The Historic Town of Rye with its cobbled streets and antique shops and the ancient towns of Battle and Winchelsea are all within a short drive. The seaside town of Hastings is four miles away combining a fascinating old town and funicular railway with many family attractions, shopping centre, cinema, night clubs and bars. Tenterden in Kent is also easily accessible and well worth a visit for its old fashioned shops and stream trains.

Beaches: Sun worshippers will love the beach at Camber with its dunes and miles of golden sand. Those seeking quieter spots may prefer the beaches at Pett Level and Winchelsea just minutes from the house. For the more adventurous, the local beach, down the cliff, opposite Stream House, provides total seclusion and privacy undiscovered by other tourists. Try this one at your own risk but we haven’t lost a guest yet! There is also a naturists beach within easy reach.

Walks and Leisure: For walkers, the local fields and woodlands are latticed with footpaths, some leading to the sea and along the cliffs. Hastings Country Park with its picture postcard scenery is not to be missed and is only minutes away.

A host of other leisure pursuits including Cycling (bicycle hire in Rye), Swimming, Tennis, Golf and Horse Riding are all available locally.

Houses, Castles and Gardens: Why not visit one of the many famous houses such as Lamb House in Rye or Castles at Bodiam and Hever. Garden lovers will adore Great Dixter, (our personal favourite) and Meriments whilst Sissinghurst is also a popular choice, particularly with guests from the continent.

Places to Eat: Those who enjoy good food will find several excellent country pubs within a five minute drive. A wide range of restaurants and every type of cuisine is available in the local towns. We will happily reserve tables at your chosen restaurant or pub and can suggest somewhere special if required.
