Cowans is a traditional farmhouse cottage situated on the edge of the delightful village of Kirkgunzeon (Kir` gun` ion).
Unspoilt panoramic views are the visitors first impression of what is a truly unspoilt location.
Situated in the countryside yet only 10 minutes drive from the beautiful City of Dumfries, Cowans offers total peace and tranquilly to its visitors.
Cowans is located just of the A711 along side a small working farm. Dumfries (8m) Dalbeattie (5m) Castle Douglas (10m) and the Solway Coast which is just 6 miles South West of us.
Being only 42 miles West of Carlisle just over the English/Scottish boarder we are very easily reached from the M6 motorway.
The guesthouse is wonderfully situated in a natural sheltered landscape. A large comfortable lounge with its own small Licensed Bar (A great place to RELAX, meet new friends or just Dream About Tomorrow!) , Games, Puzzles, Books and CD's await our guests use. A newly built separate Breakfast / Dining room overlooks our Garden, Bottom Fishing Loch and Bird Aviaries. This room is lovely, light and airy a perfect room to sit and start your day with breakfast.
All our rooms are in a converted barn situated at a right angle to the main house and have the following facilities: All Rooms Are Ground Level, Shower Ensuite, Fresh Towels Daily, Colour TVs, Full Hospitality Tray, Double Glazed, Heated, and over look the Garden and Fishing Loch. Rooms are free to use all day as is the Lounge and Dinning Area.
Alongside our lower loch we have a Static Caravan for hire during the summer months. This is board walked out around our loch and is available for both Self Catering and B&B.
During the quieter late autumn and winter months we offer evening meals served using the best local ingredients. Packed lunches and picnics are also available all year round by request.
:: Here at Cowans the golfer is spoilt for places to play. All courses are easily reached on trouble free country roads and offer extended play time during the summer months. A few examples of local courses played regularly and recommended by our guests are:
18 Hole - 6566Yards - Links course, truly superb layout, not really for the beginner but a round you will remember for along time !

18 Hole - 6039 Yards - Parkland layout, easy rolling hills & fairly challenging.
18 Hole - 6085 Yards - Heathland / Parkland, great course for all levels.
Dumfries and County:
18 Hole - 5928 Yards - Parkland yet fairly flat, lots of trees. Highly recommended course.
18 Hole - 5739 Yards - Parkland, gentle slopes, fantastic surroundings, great course for all levels of play.
There really is a good local course for everyone, beginner to pro alike. Most courses are surrounded with panoramic spectacular views. 9 hole courses are also readily available to play. We will be pleased to book courses and times for you should you wish.
