Buckingham & Claydon Cottages Bridport - Adjoining fully enclosed private gardens with a patio overlooking a wonderful view
The self catering holiday cottages are all part of a 200 year old converted barn and farm buildings arranged around a courtyard.
The cottages are set in 10 acres and surrounded by the beautiful hills and valleys of this unspoiled part of west Dorset which has been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty.
At Lancombes House we have many tame animals (as you can see from the picture) including a pony, horses, goats, sheep, ducks, rabbits, turkeys and chickens. Children are welcome to help with them. There is a large grass area for ball games.
PETS are very welcome as long as they are kept under control as in any farming area.
These two holiday cottages are very similar. They offer single storey self catering accommodation. There is a spacious open plan living / dining area with a fireplace and wood-burning stove. At one end is a beautiful pine fitted kitchen that is fully equipped and the sink overlooks a wonderful view to make washing-up easier!
They both have one large double bedroom with a wash basin and one twin bedroom. Also a bathroom with W.C. and shower.
Both holiday cottages have adjoining fully enclosed private gardens with a patio overlooking a wonderful view - see some of it to the left. The gardens get the sun all day and evening in the summer. Bring your binoculars to watch deer, foxes, buzzards, etc on the hills opposite the holiday cottages.
Although very rural we are only 3 miles from the country town of Bridport and 4 miles from the sea which can be seen from our gardens on a clear day! There are many footpaths and bridleways in the area, some leading from our land.
Riding can be arranged locally and many other sports are available including Trout & Sea Fishing and Golf. Fossil Hunting in the Lyme Regis and Charmouth area is a great favourite with our guests. The beaches in the area are very varied and suit all requirements. There are many places to visit, including Parnham House which now houses The John Makepeace Furniture Workshops, The Swannery at Abbotsbury and of course Hardy's Monument. There are also many beautiful villages and interesting country towns such as Dorchester and Weymouth with the famous Chesil Beach not too far away.
